Adoption of the city of Southampton local plan review
1 March 2006
The council has now adopted the City of Southampton Local Plan Review. This Plan sets out the policies and proposals for development in the city up to 2011.
The plan allocates sites for major development in the city centre on West Quay Phase three, Charlotte Place, Central Station, Royal Pier and Town Quay and the Civic Centre and Guildhall Square.
Major sites for development are also proposed elsewhere within the city at New College, Woolston Riverside, Drivers Wharf and Test Lane South.
The Plan also includes policies which will be used to determine planning applications for housing, employment, shopping and community uses. Other policies safeguard open space and nature conservation sites within the city.
Copies of the Plan are available for inspection at Gateway, the city libraries and Local Housing offices. The Plan can also be viewed on the council`s website at [www.southampton.gov.uk/environment/localdevelopmentplans].
