Government launches regional aid map
23 October 2006:
The government has published its map of Assisted Areas http://www.dti.gov.uk/regional/assisted-areas/assisted-areas-review/page24618.html showing the zones where businesses can apply for regional aid for the next seven years. The Department of Trade and Industry http://www.dti.gov.uk has also unveiled a new package of measures to help areas left off the map.
Three disadvantaged areas in Britain automatically qualify for help under rules set up by the European Union. They are: Cornwall and the Scilly Isles; West Wales and the Valleys; the Scottish Highlands and Islands and the whole of Northern Ireland.
