Southampton City Council has welcomed a new addition to the Cultural Quarter which will bring 30 new jobs to the city.
A new leading Caribbean restaurant has been secured for the ground floor of the council owned One Guildhall Square – expanding the Cultural Quarter’s offer.
Turtle Bay aims to open its new £600K restaurant by mid June.
Councillor Royston Smith, Leader of Southampton City Council, said:
“I am pleased to welcome Turtle Bay to Guildhall Square. Quality additions like this will really help to get the city’s Cultural Quarter buzzing.
“It is due to our ongoing investment in the Cultural Quarter that we keep attracting investors to the city and have been successful in letting out this prime location in One Guildhall Square.
“It’s encouraging that restaurants want to launch their businesses here and it is great news we have secured 30 vital new jobs for the city.
“I’m looking forward to Turtle Bay bringing a taste of the Caribbean to Southampton.”
Turtle Bay has one other successful restaurant in the UK at Milton Keynes and serves fresh food all day. They aim to capture the heart and soul of the Caribbean Island culture via music, food and cocktails.
