Standards accolade for expanding TSE

*27 May 2011

An expanding producer of process engineering panel systems in Hampshire has been officially recognised for its quality management systems.

Trant Systems Electrical (TSE), a division of the Southampton-based civil engineering and construction group Trant, has achieved registration to BS EN ISO 900:2008 following independent assessment by the British Standards Institution.

The ISO is the internationally recognised standard for quality management systems in the UK, and helps ensure a focus on key issues such as customer satisfaction and continuous improvement. From a client perspective, it provides independently verified assurance of an organisation’s commitment to quality.

The scope of TSE’s registration relates specifically to the design, manufacture, commissioning, servicing and repair of industrial electrical equipment, including control panels, motor control centres and automation systems.

Clients have included the Ministry of Defence, Associated British Ports, Southern Water, Wessex Water, National Grid, AREVA and the States of Guernsey, and TSE has produced more than £1.5m worth of work for high-calibre names in British industry since starting in November 2009.

TSE’s Tim Bullen said: “Any company which is committed to continual improvement and has gone through the rigours of ISO 9001 registration process will know how much this means to our dedicated staff and our customers.

“Registration gives us the ability to win even more business, especially where procurement specifications require certification as a pre-qualifying condition of supply.”

He added: “From an economic point of view TSE is expanding and is very much a Hampshire success story. As a small but important part of ‘UK plc’ we specialise in the design manufacture, installation and servicing of complex automated equipment for a wide range of industrial sectors.

“For example, we’ve just completed a project for the Ministry of Defence on the Falkland Islands, which included control equipment for an industrial-size refrigeration unit.

“Closer to home, we have recently undertaken a bespoke contract for the UK's second largest container port, with TSE commissioned to provide the instrumentation control for a new level crossing project at Eastern Docks, Southampton.”

TSE is also involved in projects for various other sectors, including the water industry. This includes new and replacement diesel-engine pump and generator control panels for flood-damaged equipment on the South Coast and the creation of a complex motor control centre for a pumping station in the Channel Islands.

TSE designs and manufactures a wide range of control panels for virtually every engineering sector, including water, gas, petrochemical, railway, marine, defence, food and drink and general manufacturing.
