Globetrotter Kate joins business advisory Smith & Williamson

A new manager has been appointed at the South Coast office of accountancy and financial services group Smith & Williamson.
Kate Ireland, pictured, joins the audit and business services (ABS) department at the company’s base in Kings Park Road, Southampton.
A qualified member of the Association of Chartered Accountants, she previously worked for Smith & Williamson in the Moorgate office in London before travelling abroad for a year.
Kate has significant experience acting for clients in the financial services sector and has previously been involved with FSA applications, capital adequacy reporting and assistance with ICAAP, Pillar 3 and the liquidity framework for a variety of businesses.
Andrew Edmonds, head of ABS in Southampton, said: “I am delighted that Kate has joined us on the South Coast. In particular Kate's financial services experience will further augment the advice we can give to clients in this sector.”
Kate, a University of Southampton graduate who lives near the city, is one of 28 people in ABS, working on behalf of 200 companies and organisations.
She said: “I look forward to joining Andrew and the team, focusing on providing clients with compliance advice and solutions to the many financial issues they face in today’s complex regulatory environment.”
Services by the audit and business services team include transaction support, due diligence, accounting advice and interpretation of accounting standards, regulatory advice, financial modelling, valuations and outsourced finance functions.
Companies represented include medium-to-large private companies, entrepreneurial and family enterprises, listed businesses, professional practices and non-profit organisations. Sectors include IT, financial services, media, leisure, retail, housing, care homes, retail, distribution and defence, as well as the AIM market.
