Osmond Brookes first Year

14 January 2011 *

Osmond Brookes, Commercial Property Consultants, are celebrating their first year of trading which has already seen them grow to become one of the largest retail agents in South Hampshire.

The Southampton based agent, established by Chartered Surveyor and retail agency specialist, Jeremy Braybrooke, now has a client base that includes Farmfoods, HSBC Bank, Lloyds Banking Group, SPAR, William Hill, Aberdeen Asset Management, F & C Properties plc, One Stop, Yorkshire Bank plc, Bell Books (Superbook), Bo Concept, London & Henley Group, Parkridge Group, Naomi House and Catalyst Capital LLP as well as many private individuals, local property companies and smaller retailers.

In the past 12 months, from a standing start, they have built up a register of over 70 shop units to let and for sale, from Havant & Petersfield, through Southampton & Winchester, across to Romsey, Salisbury and Lymington.
Notable deals during the first year have included the letting of an Above Bar unit to Virgin Media at £78500 pa, 18000 sq ft in Southampton let to The Gym for £100,000 pa, 8000 sq ft let to Farmfoods at Leigh Park for £50000 pa and a 3000 sq ft Convenience Store in Portsmouth let at £45000 pa, to name but a few.
Other deals have been completed in Petersfield, Winchester, Shirley, Portswood plus many in Southampton City Centre, and an investment sale at Hedge End.

Director Jeremy Braybrooke says –
“We have had tremendous support from our clients both old and new, over the year, for which we are extremely grateful. By delivering truly well informed advice on the area, we have not only secured many new retail instructions but let many of these already, sometimes remarkably quickly.

It is encouraging to note that there is such a level of interest out there, from national companies to private individuals. People still want to move on with their businesses and of course, the terms currently available mean that many people can secure a unit where it might have been impossible a few years ago. Recession is a terrible thing for many, but it continues to provide opportunities for some. It is worth noting, for example, that for the first time in over 4 years, there is no longer an empty unlet shop in the pedestrianised section of Above Bar, Southampton.”
