A brand new team of Airport Ambassadors have taken to the floor at Southampton Airport. Their aim is to proactively assist passengers, and ensure travellers find the airport friendly and easy to use.
As part of the new role, the team are also trialling the latest mobile technology on behalf of all seven BAA airports. The iPod iTouch is being used to help answer specific passenger enquiries, and provide the most up-to-date information available, using WiFi technology. Examples of recent enquiries include; providing train times, finding cruise ship information, providing updates on local traffic conditions, and even locating the weather forecast in the destination that passengers are flying to.
In addition, the new team are providing a welcoming service for passengers arriving in Southampton for the first time. The Ambassadors can offer advice on local attractions and events around the region, and, using their mobile technology, they can also suggest the best route to take.
Jodie Stevens, Airport Ambassador at Southampton Airport, explains: “Airport Ambassadors have the freedom to move around the terminal building, meaning we can offer a far more personal service, and enabling us to go the extra mile with every passenger.”
Mark Knox, Customer Service Director at Southampton Airport, commented: “Excellent customer service is a real priority at Southampton Airport, and this new team is proving extremely popular with our passengers. By being fully mobile, the team can really provide a first class service to passengers throughout the airport.”
The new team of Airport Ambassadors include: Lara Caulfield, Barbara Houghton, Gary Johnston, Nicola McCallum, Jenny Mullins, Jodie Stevens and Julie Stevens.
