Ian Lucas, MP for Business Innovation and Skills to support 3Market event in Southampton

3Market, a social trading business to business event is delighted to announce that Ian Lucas, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State in the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills will be coming along to support and meet local businesses in Southampton, 9 February 2010, at the University of Southampton.

In the first event of its kind, 3MARKET will provide opportunities for businesses to source more ethical products and services from local Social Enterprises and the event is FREE for delegates to attend.

Social enterprises are fast becoming an attractive alternative for businesses looking to demonstrate ethical business practices, such as protecting the environment and supporting the local community. There are 62,000 social enterprises in the UK, contributing £24 billion to UK output.

Deborah Wyatt, Business Link said, ‘We are delighted that the Business Minister is coming along to support social enterprises and to meet local entrepreneurs.’

Deborah added, ‘The development of social enterprise is critical to the economic ambitions of the region. This event will provide opportunities for businesses to source ethical products and services from local social enterprises.’

Along with the exhibition of 30 social enterprises, the event will include seminars, networking and keynote speaker, Wayne Hemingway MBE. Wayne is a world renowned designer, and writer for architectural and housing publications.

3Market event on 9 February at the Garden Court and Hartley Suite, University of Southampton campus, starts at 9.00am – 4.00pm.
