Debenhams Southampton gets sensational new-look - modernisation project brings new jobs and increased fashion offer

*20 April 2011

Debenhams is demonstrating its commitment to Southampton with a multimillion pound investment in the Queensway store which will create around 30 new jobs.

The entire cosmetics hall will be revamped with Urban Decay and a St Tropez spray tan booth added to the existing portfolio of top beauty brands, while the store’s first floor will become completely dedicated to menswear.

Fans of Designers at Debenhams will find the new Edition range added to the womenswear department, where lingerie will find its new home and the handbags offer is set to increase substantially.

Store manager, John Given, is looking forward revealing the new-look store to customers later this year. He says: “There’s a real buzz among colleagues about the changes taking place in store and we’re confident customers are going to love the new and improved shopping experience.

“We’re lucky to have a fantastic history with our building, as Edwin Jones were first here in the mid 1800s, then we were rebuilt in the 1950s after damage in the war. Since the building officially became Debenhams in the 1970s, it’s only right to bestow it with its fair share of TLC every few years.”

The store’s restaurant will receive a complete overhaul, with customers able to enjoy a new deli bar and soft seating throughout.

John adds: “The improvements are off to a flying start and we can’t wait to show them off in their full glory at the end of the summer.”
