Southampton Solent University are actively engaged in the transfer and exchange of knowledge with regional and local businesses and employers. Services include: contract and applied research; consultancy; product development and testing; design-to-Market commercialisation; knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs); incubation; joint ventures; support for social enterprise; professional development and technical training; and advisory services.
Services to Business and Employers - one of Southampton Solent University's strengths is the excellent training, consultancy, research and development and other knowledge-based services that we provide for business and industry, the public sector, the professions and the wider community.
Each of the University's faculties has a Solent Centre to coordinate, manage and deliver all faculty knowledge transfer and exchange specialisms and expertise and other full-cost enterprise activities:

- Solent Productions: Faculty of Media, Arts & Society - dedicated media production centre and part of the prestigious Skillset Media Academy Network. It offers commercial filming and editing services, dry hire of studio and production facilities, short courses for the creative industries, video archiving and digital asset management, as well as the full range of 'concept to screen' media production support services.

- Solent Enterprise Centre for Innovation and Design Faculty of Technology - offers a range of facilities and expertise to provide business solutions and people development or training. Our consultancy service offers a range of knowledge, support and equipment in marine, materials, design, naval architecture, built environment and fashion. Available facilities include the Solent Surveyor vessel, Outside Broadcast van, tow tank with wave generator, Usability Lab, IT suites, and a digital design and rapid manufacture lab that incorporates 5-axis CNC Router, FDM Titan, 3D scanning and laser cutting.
